Andrew Fraser Memorial Clock

This unique memorial clock was presented to Colwyn Bay town in 1989 by the parents of Andrew Fraser – in memory of their son Andrew who was born in the town and who died in Brussels in1950 at age 33.  He was a talented musician who played viola and violin in the Welsh National Youth Orchestra. The clock was made by the notable and long established firm of J. B. Joyce and Company of Whitchurch, Shropshire. A plaque is visible on the clock in memory of Peter Bellingham of Whitchurch, who was fatally injured when erecting the clock. Every year during the twelve days of Christmas the clock chimes out a selection of eight christmas carols every 15 minutes – including ‘God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen’, ‘Oh Come All Ye Faithful’ ‘and ‘Silent Night’.

Andrew Fraser’s Father, Stan Fraser, celebrated his 100th birthday in January 2015
