Personal and Practice Awards

Ralph Colwyn Foulkes, Sidney’s son, joined the family business in 1949 after qualifying as an architect at Liverpool University. During his time as an architect, he won both civic trust and national awards.

Elizabeth Colwyn Foulkes, Ralph’s wife, also joined the practise in 1954 and has been awarded an MBE for her services to architecture.

Nick Colwyn Foulkes is the grandson of Sidney Colwyn Foulkes, and he continues to operate the family business today.

After joining the business post-university, Nick joined the practice’s Welsh office in Colwyn Bay, before opening a second office in the capital.

The company retained its Welsh office for a number of years, before Nick moved the business to London, where the architecture industry was, and still remains, to prosper.
