Then and Now Meeting March 6th, 2025 – Ethel Hovey

On Thursday, March 6th, 2025 at 10.00a.m. the next Then and Now meeting will be held in the Council Chamber at Colwyn Bay Town Hall, Rhiw Road, Colwyn Bay, LL29 7TE.

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF VENUE

We will focus on the life and work of Ethel Hovey, who ‘led the way’ in many aspects of the town’s development, yet local history has largely forgotten.

The talk will be given by our own Gemma Campbell who will illustrate all that Ethel did, in the hope of recovering her name. She will also explain why Ethel has been recognised as one of the Remarkable Women of Wales and why a purple plaque will be unveiled in the town, in her honour in July.

PLEASE NOTE that this meeting will be held in the Council Chamber in the Town Hall, Rhiw Road, Colwyn Bay, LL29 7TE, and that due to building work you may have to use the back door entrance. Tea and coffee will be available as you arrive.

There is no need to register beforehand, just turn up on the day. As usual, everyone is welcome. Please feel free to bring friends who may have an interest in local history, or want to take a look inside our Town Hall and Council Chamber, a magnificent room in itself.

We look forward to welcoming you to join us.
